When Headaches are Really a Pain in the Neck

Neck pain is often overlooked when people experience headaches, dizziness, visual and general fatigue, but it could be the root cause of any of these symptoms!

Our neck has the role of supporting the head and all the most important communication between our body and brain runs through this area.

Although some of the muscles in the neck are not very big, they can have a huge impact when they are impaired in any way.

Some symptoms that can come from neck muscle problems include:

  • headaches

  • dizziness

  • visual complaints

  • impaired coordination

  • increased tiredness.

So often at Balance & Concussion Therapy Center, when we ask about neck pain, many people report that they "always have some pain in the neck."

But this "usual" pain may have been exacerbated by a recent event and can be flaring in a way that causes unusual symptoms.

Physical Therapists are the best resource for neck pain. When a patient presents with dizziness, PTs will always assess the neck and can provide immediate treatment and recommendations.

Make sure that your headache specialist has had your neck evaluated!
